CUPE 116 continues limited job action. Campusmail service and municipal crews, which affects landscaping, waste management, moving and recycling, are expected to continue withdrawal of services and all CUPE 116 members are working to an overtime ban.
The university is open, with the continued provision of classes, labs and exams as well as other services. Faculty and staff who are not engaged in job action are expected to report for work.
CUPE 116 represents more than 2000 employees in trades, food services, student housing, parking, research labs and more. CUPE Local 2278, representing teaching assistants, is in mediation with UBC. CUPE 2950 and the University have reached a tentative deal.
