October 11: CUPE 116 members began an overtime ban at midnight.  Custodial workers have been pulled from their work today and will not be providing services to faculties and departments.

The university remains open, with the continued provision of classes, labs and exams as well as other services. Faculty and staff who are not engaged in job action are expected to report for work.

CUPE 116 represents more than 2000 employees in trades, food services, student housing, parking, research labs and more. CUPE Local 2278, representing teaching assistants, is still bargaining with UBC.  CUPE 2950 and the University have reached a tentative deal.

Students need to be informed about their options: read the Academic Position of Students in Case of a Strikeread the FAQ’s for students.

Services Affected

The Parking Office in the GSAB will be open today from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm.
